Associate Director, Food Technology
Julie is the Associate Director of Food Science and she works with entrepreneurs starting with early stage product development through scale up to manufacturing of their commercial product. She also provides technical support and guidance on product issues that clients may have. She joined the FIC almost 18 years ago where she has worked on hundreds of food products in almost every category.
While she was in school, she worked for 2 entrepreneurs during the summers both manufacturing and marketing products in the Union Square Green Market. On graduating, she headed product development for a spice company and then was the Research and Development manager with regulatory and QC responsibilities for a specialty pet company. Prior to joining the FIC, she worked with McNeil Nutritionals for several startup brands of nutritional products.
Julie has a bachelor’s in Food Science from Cook College and a Masters in Human Nutrition from the University of New Haven. She has taken GMP, HACCP, Better Processing Control School, PCQI and attended short courses on FDA Food Labeling and Design Thinking.
