The Food Innovation Center is a unique business incubation and economic development accelerator program, which is part of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station (NJAES) at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Our Center provides business and technology expertise to startup and established food and value-added agriculture businesses in New Jersey and the surrounding region, and we utilize our outreach capacity to reach the food industry throughout the world.

We support domestic US companies, as well as international businesses looking to establish a presence in the USA, with the marketing, technical, regulatory, and manufacturing expertise that are critical for success.

The Rutgers Food Innovation Center is located statewide. The FIC network is spread over three main locations: FIC South, FIC North, and FIC Chemistry. Follow these links for a full description on each location, including the equipment offered by each.

Our FIC South and FIC North locations each offer business/technical mentoring, training and specialized services, and also product manufacturing. Our third location, FIC Chemistry, offers a wide variety of analytical chemistry and mass spectrometry services that are commonly needed in the consumer packaged goods industry.

Globally Recognized Business Incubator, Soft Landings & Accelerator Program

Since the Rutgers Food Innovation Center was established in 2001 we have earned a number of highly competitive awards for our impacts in economic development, business and technical programming and community engagement. These awards are summarized on our awards page, and we are extremely proud and thankful to the sponsoring agencies.

The Rutgers FIC is particularly proud to have been designated as a Soft Landings site by INBIA, due to our focus on international business attraction. The Rutgers Food Innovation Center is the only Soft Landings Food Incubation Program... in the world.

In addition, the Rutgers FIC has been awarded "Incubator of the Year," by the International Business Innovation Association (INBIA) among all incubators globally in 2007, and the recipient of the inaugural award of Food Incubator of the Year in 2016

NJLWD Statewide Talent Network

In 2018, the Rutgers Food Innovation Center is serving as the Food Industry Talent Network for the State of New Jersey.  This critically needed program for our state's workforce is funded by the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce development to ensure that current and future New Jersey workers are equipped with the skills that are needed to support our food industry.
