"We felt we had a very good idea to convert some of our orchards to vineyards; we learned how to make wine, produced our first bottles in 2000, and won awards from the beginning. I believe good wine begins with best practices in the field, but we needed to hire a winemaker, expand facilities and boost our marketing to ensure our growth. The Food Innovation Center coached us every step of the way through a very complex application for a USDA value-added grant. As a result, we received a $50,000 grant. Without their help, I know we wouldn't have succeeded, and without our value-added products we would not be surviving in farming today."

"I can’t say enough about the Food Innovation Center. They have tremendous experience and a vast network of resources to help small companies and startups develop programs that they otherwise would not be able to afford. There are so many issues facing small companies today, from the trickle down effect of bioterrorism, to outsourcing—it can be overwhelming. For a little company, the Center is a godsend.
“The staff has made a real difference for us. Thank you for a program that really works. May you continue to help businesses throughout the state that would otherwise be struggling alone."

“I am so proud of our TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More ) here at Terra Chips that we received 100% Compliance with this audit, Zero Non Conformance items.
What makes this special that it was an unannounced audit!
Every year we got better, we had first year Level 3 five minor, last year we had only two and this year we had none (zero). This is our sixth year with SQF before they were Level 2.
I wanted to share my happy moment with you.
You (Donna Schaffner) played important role in laying foundation at Terra Chips in our HACCP program and of course in Emergency preparedness and Food Security. Thanks!”

"The Food Innovation Center's expertise in food science and production methods was critical to our business taking the next step towards the commercialization of our product. The production methods developed with the FIC have helped us create a more consistent ketchup that is produced at much higher yields--something we could not have done without them." Patrick Leger, co-owner of First Field

“The Food Innovation Center has served as a valuable resource during the start-up phase of my vegan snack company, Raw Luv Bar. I consulted with FIC regarding production and packaging and learned key information regarding natural preservatives as well as food safety. FIC has helped me to understand my next steps and as a result I am better positioned to speak with potential co-packers. I am grateful for the service.”

“As my first venture into the world of food product development I needed a lot of hand-holding. The team at the FIC has been there every step of the way. I look forward to the next steps with them.”
